The church

The tower dates from 1827, the church itself was built in 1830

Anyone who has ever seen the church of Oterdum, 'in hörn van diek', whitewashed and strikingly robustly protruding above the sea wall, will never forget that sight.
Especially after Oterdum was nominated for demolition, the church was photographed, painted and drawn from all sides by amateurs and professionals. It was a wonderfully beautiful piece of land there.
On one side, walking past the tower, one looked out over the wide water of the Eems, always lively, always in motion, on the other side, down there lay the peaceful village in bright colours full of life.
